About "This Mom"

I have always said, "Why say something about yourself when you can let your friends say it for you". Well I guess in this case that just will not work. I am a true Texas girl at heart, a wife and mother of 2 crazy kiddos. I grew up with a strong dislike for reading but a love of music and dance. I guess you could say that I have a highly active imagination but what parent doesn't when it is time to play Thomas the Train picks up Barbie at the mall to take her to the ball. As a kid I had a HORRIBLE experience with an english teacher that I truly believe was not a happy person. I learned absolutely nothing in her class except that if you really need to use the restroom do not (and I repeat do not) say "Can I go to the restroom?". You will only get an ugly look and a "I'm sure you can. Please have a seat".  After that experience I refused to actively participate in any English class. 

Up until a year and a half ago you would have never caught me reading a book for fun. In the past I have never had a problem skimming cliff notes (yes... I am honest. I never actually read it completely) or watching a movie instead of picking up a book. I guess I never realized the art of creating a world in  your mind. I have come to realize that there is nothing like being transported into a world by a creative author. I can not explain what it is like to know that my vision of Christian and Ana will be different than yours or that I might fall completely in love with a bad character like Shane before you realize that he is actually Shamsiel. I have spent many late nights reading about characters in situations that I could never imagine. Some of them triumph and some completely bomb but in the end I feeling like I have taken the journey with them. I can now say that I have spent numerous hours reading books by self published authors, debut authors, NY Best Selling authors and everything in between. 

I am not quite sure why I decided to blog about this journey but I figured maybe I will meet people just like me that read these books because although I would love to say that I am a writer... I am not. But I am a huge fan of using my imagination. I look forward to passing on this love of reading to my 2 precious kids.

*For those that love proper english... I have to apologize in advance as this blog will make you cringe. I completely and utterly suck at it. Hopefully through this journey I will become so much better. I hope you can find it in your heart to love me anyways.
